The effect of physical (γ rays) and chemical (EMS) mutagens on Anab-e-Shahi grape revealed that survival of mutants were more at lower concentrations and shorter duration of mutagenic treatments. For fruit quality, two mutants have maximum bunches and yield per vine (AM-613, AM-599). Berries per bunch were more in three mutants. Mutant AM-522 had significantly higher berry weight and size. Two mutants (AM-522 and AM-608) showed maximum T.S.S. with very sweet in taste. Mutants AM-599 and AM-525 had seedless berries or with rudimentary seeds. For disease resistance, four mutants showed moderate resistance to downy mildew, eight mutants moderately susceptible to powdery mildew and one mutant AM-608 with moderate resistance to anthracnose. However, such promising mutants have special significance in Indian viticulture for their commercial cultivation in different agro-climatic zones.
